One of the chefs featured in our book, Andrea Ilott from The Larder "is cooking for Slater and his entourage" reports The West Australia (March 31st). Slater also enjoyed Andrea's cooking last year and "he offered her a job to tour with him. She declined" reports The West. And we in Margaret River are pleased she stayed and delighted she features in our book. Slater is here in Margaret River to participate in the Telstra Drug Aware Pro 2012.
Miranda Aitken will be our guest at the next Sunday Stories at the Movies in the Vineyard on Sunday, March 25th. Miranda Aitken is a Margaret River bookseller, booklover and occasional writer of poetry, songs and creative non-fiction. Her work has been published in indigo Journal volumes 1 & 6, was performed at the 2010 Perth Writers Festival and was Highly Commended in the 2006 Tom Collins Poetry Prize. In 2010 Miranda participated in the Busselton Jetty Nature Writing Project and one of her poems can be found on the restored Busselton Jetty. Her writing invokes a strong sense of place and celebrates our connection with our natural environment.

As a Founding Partner and sponsor of this Inaugural Short Story Writing Competition, we are pleased to announce that the selected short stories from the Margaret River Short Story Writing Competition has gone to our designer, Tracey Gibbs after editing by Richard Rossiter - thank you Richard. Richard worked for many years as an academic at Edith Cowan University, with a special interest in the supervision of postgraduate Creative Writing students. He has judged numerous writing competitions. Among other works, he is the author of Arrhythmia: Stories of Desire, UWA Publishing, 2009.
